In 1940, Lange und Söhne was commissioned to develop an "observation watch for the measuring battery" (m-b) with a larger diameter based on the Luftwaffe b-watch. For the photographic images, the second digits were also to be applied in mirror writing!

The first observation watches with a case diameter of 65 mm were manufactured on February 3, 1941. At the beginning, the case numbers 210001 to 210010 were still made in silver, then in platinum and later only in brass with matt gray protective lacquer!
