Here you will find an extremely rare completely original 1970s factory Diamond set, 18kt white gold Vacheron & Constantin Designed by Chaumet "Intertwining Diamond Vine Motif" Bracelet watch.
As one of the most sophisticated examples of this reference the present example represents one of the finest jewelry houses collaborations with one of the finest Swiss Watch houses to design the interior mechanism of the timepiece.
Designed with special detail to a naturalistic vine-like twisting three dimensional diamond bezel which intertwines to reveal approximately 50 brilliant round cut diamonds, this extremely unique special order timepiece is sure to impress even more in person.

It is is extremely unique and rare to find these two design firms collaborating on such a timepiece as chaumet has primarily been world renkown for its jewelry designs so it is a unique opportunity to own such a highly styled timepiece.

The history of Chaumet has been entwined with the History of France ever since its founding in 1780, in Paris. Indeed, the Maison very quickly became the official jeweller to Empress Josephine. The High Jewellery savoir-faire of the Maison has been passed down through generations of jewellers for 235 years and crafted at the very heart of the place Vendôme, the jewellery and watchmaking creations reflect these exceptional skills and pay tribute to the Parisian style.

For more than 230 years Chaumet’s excellence in High Jewellery has been bequeathed from one master jeweller to another. Diamonds and precious stones, carefully selected for their exceptional purity and sparkle, are then sculpted into round, cushion, oval, emerald, or the Maison’s signature cut, the pear-shape. Then, the jewellers, stone setters, polishers and engravers give life to the jewel as you see with the present example’s diamond mounted architecture.

Most famously known for their naturalistic elements which they incorporate into their creations,
Chaumet’s naturalist jewellery designs depicts nature in all its wild, organic, fragile glory.
Finding bucolic beauty in a garden, woodland or meadow, delicate blades of grass or shapes of vines in the graphic forms of mistletoe, the Maison’s designers ingeniously render plants and weeds alike in graceful, inspired creations as seen with the intertwining diamond vine bezel which surrounds the signed ivory mint dial.

Often with an added touch of sophistication - a bow entwined around a freshly-cut branch - they elevate the most ordinary plants to the status of jewellery. Species are chosen for their cultural significance, imbuing the jewellery with symbolic value based on the design which it incorporates. The present example the naturalistic of exotic diamond set intertwining vines.

In the wake of the post-war years, Chaumet stood out as a precursor, embodying the taste and creativity of the Parisian woman. Chaumet adapted the 'New Look' of the pioneers Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent, attracting the fashionable women of the time.

More about Vacheron during this timeframe

From the 1940s to the 1980s Vacheron Constantin , like many of the other watch brands saw new promise as they shifted focus and began to recognize the growing demand in the arena of Ladies timepieces. The race to develop ornate case designs and custom orders was all the craze. A new way to incorporate design elements as a result of smaller watch mechanisms allowed for timepiece manufacturers to create never before imaginable designs. Vacheron and Constantin capitalized on this market due to their acute ability and advancements they made with engineering. As a result, Vacheron & Constantin more so than any other watch maison was commonly requested to produce some of the most desirable and interesting timepieces of the period.

The present watch was custom designed as a special order carried out by Vacheron & Constantin as part of a private commission for important Vacheron & Constantin Clientele.
This was a common request at the time for these piece as unique diamond set wristwatches with hard stone dials was very indemand. A similar example also exists in the Vacheron & Constantin museum as well.

Around this time, Vacheron & Constantin was implementing their revolutionary lozenge shaped case design wristwatch.
An example of this early original museum quality prototype lozenge designed timepiece from the early 1900s can be also be found in our storefront here as well and also a more modern example where one can really see the lineage of the reference. The unique version of the reference from the later 70s where production was 1 of 3 which competed against the Lady's Kala , one of VC's most important diamond wristwatch.

Many Different variations around the world for the lozenge shaped wristwatch were produced because they were one of the most famous VC designs during this period as a result of their oblong case design which was so unique but as an alternative to this design Vacheron & Constantin created a select few cushion shaped wristwatches with diamond bezel such as the present timepiece exhibited here today, as part of a private commission series. '

Previously known examples of this timepiece are usually produced in 18kt yellow gold and there are no examples in the current marketplace which have the Chaumet Diamond set Intertwining Vines which the present timepiece exhibits so you will not find another one like it. The timepiece has approximately 50 brilliant round cut diamonds on the bezel, made of only the highest quality diamonds Chaumet had access to at this time.

The present reference is no longer in production today and it is very unlikely a collector will see another example such as this one again. We will be adding additional details and sources shortly.
