As you can see in the pictures, this is a Meters First dial from the early years of this model.

And a model from the first series of the 5513

"The Rolex Submariner was created in 1953 and introduced at the 1954 Basel Exhibition. It is the most iconic of all diver's watches. Since then, the Submariner has been the "tool" watch by which all others have been judged. It owes its initial commercial success to numerous Bond films, including Live and Let Die, in which Bond effortlessly unzipped Miss Caruso's dress with a specially magnetised sub. To this day, the Submariner is a consistent best-seller for Rolex, but it's vintage subs that stir the passions of collectors the most.

This is an excellent example of a gold plated stainless steel 'Meters First' high polish dial reference 5513, first purchased on December 15, 1966, just one year after the serial number dated the watch from the original production date. The 40mm case is in first class condition with highly polished sides, crown guard and brushed steel lugs. There are very light scratches on the unidirectional black 60-minute bezel with the bezel to the bead at 12 o'clock, showing wear commensurate with age.

The folded Oyster bracelet (ref. 7206) is also in good condition, with only light surface scratches, mainly around the clasp. Under the solid caseback is the Calibre 1520 automatic movement that beats reliably at 18000 bph.

Beneath the plexiglass crystal is the coveted matte black "Meters First" dial in good condition with lume markers touching again. Below the 6 o'clock marker, the Swiss t <25 marker runs over 5 ticks, which is often seen as a confirmation of the originality of the dial !

The Submariner is not only an eye-catching day watch for any occasion, but first and foremost a tool watch. The omission of a date window, combined with bold but elegant hands and strong hour markers, lends purity to the dial and maximizes legibility.

Like Commander Bond himself, this watch is always ready for new adventures. "

Very rare and in this scope of supply only rarely to find.
