Description
The Spring Drive movement made its debut in 1997 after nearly 20 years of research and development. Ironically, the company that invented the quartz wristwatch (and brought on the Quartz Revolution) back in 1969 was the one to announce it. The Japanese people have a deep-rooted respect for tradition, so instead of abandoning traditional mechanical timekeeping, Seiko decided to guide it into the new Millenium. The watch on offer here is one of the most critically acclaimed descendants of the original Spring Drive, as well as one of the most thoroughly praised timepieces of the 21st century.

The SBGE201 comes outfitted with a sharp, angular stainless steel case, whose complex architecture is highlighted by a mix of finely-brushed and Zaratsu-polished surfaces. The former methods have also been applied to the hands and indices, which, were that possible, would make the jet-black dial appear even darker. The steady glide of the seconds hand over the dial owes its magnificence to the Spring Drive movement inside, and it is said to reflect the natural and continuous flow of time itself. The domed sapphire bezel - a feature still seen quite rarely - is the perfect finishing touch, as it serves as a transition between the bright steel and the dark dial. Unsurprisingly, the solid steel bracelet is finished to the same standard as the rest of this marvellous piece. The SBGE 201 is powered by the Spring Drive cal. 9R66 - one of the most accurate hybrid mechanical movements in existence.

Our offering is in very good condition - there are some normal hairpins to be found, but nothing deep or worrying and comes in a full set of boxes and papers.
