During his trip through Mexico, Alexander Shorokhov, founder of Alexander Shorokhoff Watch Manufacture, visited various museums and places where Frida Kahlo worked. He was deeply impressed by her presence and creativity, the colors, the inner strength of the artworks, who herself had a dramatic and spectacular life full of pain and passion. Alexander Shorokhov dedicated his new watch "Los Craneos" to her in 2018.

Two elements serve as the main motif of the watch: Two skulls and the numerous metal applications with their pyramid-shaped, pointed heads on the dial. Both represent Frida Kahlo's battle with death. The skulls are deeply rooted in Mexican culture and symbolize the game of life or death; they gave their name to this watch model. The metal applications on the dial, reminiscent of rivets, are intended to symbolize the painful metal corset in which Frida Kahlo was imprisoned.

The watch is manufactured as a "double timer". The date is displayed in one time zone and the central seconds in the other. Two automatic movements are used for this double time display.
