Panerai PAM 004 B Luminor Marina T Dial Transitional PVD 44mm.

Excellent to Like New condition with box and papers.

Incredible condition and very collectible!

The Panerai PAM00004 B transitional model is very rare and highly collectible. The transitional model has a tritium painted dial that were found on the A model watches. The B models were to receive a Luminova painted dial.

Like many luxury watch companies, Panerai did not waste or discard old dials, hands, buckles etc. So the first few models in a new series, often had the older parts. Because tritium was eventually phased out by all watch companies, collectors appreciated the rare parts and adore that they had a vintage or warm appearance. Therefore, A series models with Tritium parts, as well as the very few transitional models became collectible and more valuable.

This particular specimen has a tritium painted dial with "T Swiss T" markings under the 6 o'clock market. It also has matching tritium painted hands as well as a rare A series 2 screw buckle! The buckle alone would sell for about $650 in the secondary market. The only item not original to this set is the small screwdriver. Everything else is authentic and appears to be original. It also coomes with a rare and very popular Panerai OEM nylon Velcro strap with blue embroidery. What is very special about this watch is the fine condition of the PVD coating on the 44 mm stainless steel case. The finish has a nice matte grey black finish and looks awesome with the cream colored hands, numbers and markers. Simple in design, yet full of character.

Both A & B models were given mechanical movements which have a sub seconds hand feature only. The OP II (ETA 6497/2) movement has a 56 hour power reserve. This movement has a long history of reliability and durability.
