Description

Patek Philippe 3545J Golden Ellipse Double Signed Edition in 18kt Yellow Gold with Gorgeous Gilt Champagne Dial, Oxidized Gold Baton Hands Showing Beautiful Aged Patina and Hand Painted Roman Numeral Hour Markers Circa 1972. Solid Two-Body Case with Straight Lugs and Solid Case Back as well as the 18kt Yellow Gold Crown being Signed with the Calatrava Cross. Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal. Fitted on a Bespoke Brown Alligator Leather Strap. Beyer Chronometrie is an important watch retailer in Zurich, with whom Patek has a long standing relationship.

Launched in 1968, Patek Philippe's Golden Ellipse collection marked a significant shift for Patek as they embraced the constantly changing world that was the 1960's. With the dawn quartz technology on its way, Patek sought a watch that was both unisex in its design and also immediately 'Patek' in its aesthetic. With that design brief, Patek debuted the Golden Ellipse to immediate success as a result of its novel and forward-thinking design and luxurious construction. Made from solid 18k yellow gold and powered by a manual-wind movement, the Ellipse celebrated classical watchmaking's techniques while also retaining a forward-thinking design in the form of its thin oval-shaped case, understated dials and elegant unisex proportions. Following the success of the first Ellipse, the ref. 3548, Patek followed with several other variants that proved to be just as successful, leading to the collection remaining within Patek's catalog to this day. As such, one of those references was the Ellipse that we see here, the Horizontal Ellipse ref. 3545. Featuring a TV-shaped case whereby its proportions are shifted onto their side so the watch it horizontally-arranged rather than vertically-arranged, the ref. 3545 wears on the wrist with a wider stance that allows it to be enjoyed by even more wrist sizes as its 32mm-wide 18kt white gold case measures a very wearable 27mm tall.

In combination with its Gilt Champagne dial with black painted Roman numerals, and its manual-wind movement, this example also features Beyer's signature at 6 o’clock which designates this example as a double signed piece whereby its original retailers, Beyer in this case, stamped the timepiece’s dial with their branding so as to link their name with that of Patek Philippe.

Driven by the mechanical prowess of the manual-winding Patek Philippe caliber movement, every aspect embodies meticulous craftsmanship. Its rhodium-plated finish, embellished with fausses cotes, proudly bears the hallmark quality seal of Geneva, signifying unparalleled precision and artistry. The shock absorber mechanism and Gyromax balance, adjusted for cold, heat, and isochronism in five positions, epitomize horological excellence.

Owning a double-signed timepiece like the Patek Philippe 3545J "Beyer" Golden Ellipse is a privilege reserved for those who truly appreciate the pinnacle of watchmaking artistry. The collaboration between Patek Philippe and Beyer, renowned for their individual legacies of excellence, results in a watch that transcends rarity.

Such double-signed creations are exceptionally rare, coveted treasures that capture the attention of seasoned collectors and passionate enthusiasts alike. The fusion of Patek Philippe's technical mastery with Beyer's iconic insignia elevates this timepiece to an unparalleled status of desirability.

The exclusivity of these watches is heightened by the limited availability at Beyer boutiques offering Patek Philippe timepieces. As the sole purveyor of these distinguished creations, the boutique becomes an enclave of horological excellence, where enthusiasts seek not just a watch but a symbol of heritage and refinement.

The allure lies not only in the watch's intrinsic value and craftsmanship but also in its narrative—the story behind the collaboration, the meticulous artistry, and the scarcity of such a union. This exclusivity cements its place as a collector's dream, a symbol of prestige, and a testament to the convergence of two revered brands.

For aficionados of horology, possessing a double-signed watch represents a pinnacle achievement, signifying an understanding and appreciation for the rarified realm where beauty, history, and craftsmanship converge in a singular, breathtaking timepiece.

This rarity transforms ownership of such a watch into a statement—an affirmation of one's discerning taste, dedication to horological excellence, and appreciation for the union of two distinguished brands.

Owning one of these elusive timepieces is not just possessing a watch; it's embracing a legacy, a heritage, and an unparalleled commitment to the finest craftsmanship—an investment that transcends time.
