Longines made some very special time pieces for the gentleman watch wearer and this Longines Conquest DiChro is fashioned on those CONQUEST quartz watches of amazing time keeping. The movement is a SPLIT 5 system, and was formally introduced to Longines watch co. Francillon in the early 1980's [I know because we bought the first few pieces ever to have been released, it was given to me as a watchmaker grad gift by the affable Walter von Kanel, at present the President of Longines, they were called the Longines SPLIT 5 150 anniversary watch]
A great quartz movement, this very special time piece has a full length bracelet, extra links are enclosed in the package, and although it does have a few scratches and usage marks, is still a very wearable time piece. The specialty about the Conquest is that it was a caliber that was accredited as being amongst the most accurate of all time quartz movements, and some quartz movements were even printed on the dial as Conquest V.H.P. or very high precision. Time keeping on this watch is flawless, the battery changes have to be undertaken by a watchmaker of serious skill, due to the intricacies of coordinating all the functions to zero. The sapphire crystal has got the words Longines and Conquest written underneath the glass, so in some light angles all you can see is the darkened screen of the Liquid crystal display. The crown undertakes 5 separate functions, chiefly T1 with date, annual calendar and perpetual calendar functions and seconds, TIMER- and T2 as in a second time zone, Chronograph and split seconds chronograph functions, and lastly the ALARM section, you can also use the watch as a multi level ALARM time piece, as it can set two different alarms via the TIMER and the ALARM section. It's pretty versatile, and movements of this sort are also used by specialist watch timing companies like OMEGA, RADO, TISSOT, LONGINES of course, and TAG HEUER and BREITLING amongst them.
The item comes complete with it's box and papers and guaranteed purchase from 1995.
