Glycine Airman – Ref 314.050 – Cal AS 1700 – SS – 36mm

Vintage Glycine Airman GMT watch with reference 314.050. It comes with a round black dial with dots and batons for hours, Arabic numerals for minutes and GMT. At 6 o’clock is engraved Automatic. It is a T Swiss T model. The window for the date is at 3 o’clock. The hands are in steel with arrow style hour hand and stick minutes. The watch has a NOS original crystal. The bezel is graduated up to 24. 2 crowns at 3 and 4 o’clock. It is a stainless-steel back case with engraved outside “Swiss – Stainless Steel – Automatic – Waterproof – Incabloc – PAT 314.050 – 323.1119 – 947180”. Automatic movement with cal AS 1700 and 17 jewels. The watch comes with a brand-new orange NATO strap. Width between lugs is 20mm.

The company was founded in 1914 by Eugene Meylan in Bienne, Switzerland. Initially specializing in miniature movements, clad in precious gold, gems and platinum cases for women, the brand soon embraced the gentlemen’s watch, becoming a favorite among the British and American jet-set. In 1931, it invented the EMSA module. In 1953, at the request of the British pilot and commander, Chat Brown, Glycine created the first “Airman”, a multiple time-zone watch. In 1965, the astronaut, Pete Conrad successful traveled to outer space and back home for the Gemini 5 flight wearing the Airman. In 1967, a new collection called “Combat” was launch. In 2016, the gycline was acquired by Invicta Watch Group.
