Description |
Watch: Tutima Military Chronograph 798
Stock Number: CHW6110 Price: £1995.00 The Tutima Military Chronograph 798 was produced with Nato Air Forces in mind in particular the German Air Force. Some consider this Tutima to be the last of the true Pilots watches made specifically for use by pilots. It's hard to date this Tutima other than its somewhere between 1983 to 1990 when production stopped. A big bold 43mm steel case that would fit over a flight suit, there is no mistaking this is a heavy watch. All functions work as they should including the chronograph function which is easy to use with the big button style pushers either side of the crown (allowing it to be used even when wearing gloves as Air Force personnel would be). Day and Date function with the day wheel in English. There are various dial configurations of the 798 however this one states just 'Military' and does not show the brand name which is stamped with the serial number on the caseback. Automatic, operating from a Lemania 5100 Caliber. Sapphire crystal intact with no chips or marks Dial shows some natural aging particularly to the hands Fitted to a generic black and silver NATO style strap, it should be noted brass / steel fixed spring bars have been fitted to this watch to support the strap these can be removed; however, we have chosen to leave as they are allowing you to wear this watch with a Nato rather than bracelet. Our View - If you like aviation and watches this Tutima is a perfect match. Quite possibly one of the last true aviators watches with a quirky unique feature in the later added fixed spring bars, allowing a unique look and feel when wearing the watch. |
