Description
We proudly present this very rare green dial Tudor Prince Date Tiger Chronograph for sale in fine condition for its age.
Originally created by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, Tudor owes much of its initial success to its connection to Rolex. Tudor watches were originally intended as a more affordable alternative, offering the same quality and craftsmanship as their sister brand. However since its initial inception Tudor has now become a great brand in its own right and no longer needs the affiliation with Rolex.
First launched in 1995, the Tudor Oysterdate chronograph (later changed to `Tiger` Prince Date) was the first Tudor to utilise the Valjoux 7750-1 and is packed full of vibrant details which are unique to Tudor, as well as the watches produced 1997 and onward commemorating Tudor`s famed ambassador Tiger Woods. Although Tiger`s stint as a Tudor ambassador only lasted from 1997 - 2003, these incredible `Tiger` chronographs, as well as their older Oysterdate counterparts live on and are becoming harder and harder to come across.
This iteration of the Tiger chronograph, reference 79280 comes set in a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, fitted with a polished engraved UPH bezel as well as a screwdown crown and chronograph pushers, ensuring its 10atm (100m/330ft). The metallic green guilloche dial features contrasting white Arab numerals, luminous dot indexes, matching luminous hands as well as a striking red chronograph seconds hand. The dial is further embellished by a running seconds sub dial and 2 chronograph sub dials for accurate timing up to 12 hours, with it completed by the classic date aperture at 3 o`clock. These details are protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass and driven by the iconic Valjoux automatic calibre 7750-1 chronograph movement. Lastly, the watch is completed by a brand new brushed/polished service bracelet with fully stickered safety catch clasp, as well as coming with its original green shark skin strap, deployment clasp and additional (used) black leather Tudor strap.
The watch is dated circa 2001 and is presented in fine condition with small marks on the crown and crown guards. Supplied with its original inner and outer boxes, as well as two additional Tudor straps, spare deployment clasp, Tudor service booklet and Tudor service card (October 2019).
This watch is covered under our 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
