Paying Tribute to Playing on the Greens
Swiss luxury watch giant Rolex has been the official timekeeper of the Wimbledon tennis championships in Wimbledon, England, since 1978. Variants of the Rolex Datejust with the so-called "Wimbledon dial" are the result of Rolex's long-standing partnership with the famous tournament. Timepieces in this line feature dials with green Roman numerals. The color choice is a tribute to the green courts of the popular tournament.
Rolex Datejust Wimbledon models are available in 36 and 41 mm sizes and come in stainless steel, two-tone stainless steel and yellow gold, or a combination of stainless steel and white gold. Rolex also offers versions with either a smooth or fluted bezel. The Datejust Wimbledon is also available on a sporty Oyster or elegant Jubilee bracelet. Common to all models is the Cyclops date magnifier embedded in the crystal at 3 o'clock on the dial.
Like the other Datejust models, the Wimbledon models are equipped with an automatic chronometer-certified movement. At the time of writing in mid-2024, current models are powered by the Rolex caliber 3235 with a power reserve of around 70 hours.
