The 42mm diameter solid three-body case is polished and brushed. It has a white dial with luminous dot hour markers, luminous oversized hands, and a central sweep seconds hands. There is a date aperture with a Cyclops bubble-magnifying lens at 3 o'clock, and it has stop-seconds for precise time setting, and two time zones. The second time zone has independent rapid setting of the hour hand. It's water resistant to 100 meters/330 feet, and the 13mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed.

With 10 patent applications filed over the course of its development, this self-winding mechanical movement is a consummate demonstration of Rolex technology, at the forefront of the art of watchmaking. Calibre 3285 offers fundamental gains in terms of precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetism, convenience and reliability. Calibre 3285 incorporates the Chronergy escapement patented by Rolex, which combines high energy efficiency with great dependability. Made of nickel-phosphorus, it is also insensitive to magnetic interference.
