Description |
Of all the watches that I collect and sell, this is perhaps the only firm that needs little introduction, having built its business over the last century on high quality, innovation, and style. The Rolex Watch Co. of Switzerland, founded by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother in law Alfred Davis, would first establish his business in England (1908) before settling in Switzerland. By 1919, Wilsdorf had established the Manufacture des Montres Rolex, at a time when the movements were crafted in Bienne and the watches were hand-finished in Geneva. On average, more than 200 technicians are involved in producing a single Rolex wristwatch, quite remarkable
If one were to design the perfect everyday sporty or dress watch with an attribute like a strong presence on the wrist, they would design the Rolex Datejust. Even at 36mm the Datejust wears nicely on the wrist given its beefy oyster case and longer lugs. Every vintage collection, even a sport watch collection, has at least one Datejust. The present example of this must-have reference is in beautiful vintage condition This one has a very cool rarity: a much sought after pie pan dial Specifications: Brand: Rolex Model: Datejust Serial #: 1395165 Year of Production: 1966 Reference #: 1601 Gender: Men or Women Case Material: Stainless Steel Case Diameter: 36mm, not counting crown Crown: Signed crown winds, sets the time and date, and screws down smoothly ~ does not have the quickset date feature, which means the date cannot be changed independently without the hour hand passing midnight ~ patented instantaneous shutter-like date change near midnight Bracelet Material: 14k solid yellow gold and stainless steel Bracelet Specifications: Signed, much sought after and very comfortable on the wrist, oval link Jubilee bracelet will fit a wrist up to 7.5" ~ can be adjusted smaller ~ no extra links ~ these awesome comfort fit, oval link, bracelets are very hard to find. They always appear stretched unless on a wrist. They were made in a much looser fashion in the USA under the original contract to Rolex. Dial Color: Champagne Dial Condition: Signed clean pie pan dial Winding Mechanism: Signed calibre 1570 swiss automatic 26 jewel chronometer movement runs strong and accurate ~ service history unknown Crystal: New aftermarket acrylic crystal Box/Papers: No box ~ no papers Overall Condition: excellent condition ~ signed clean champagne pie pan dial ~ signed calibre 1570 swiss 26 jewel automatic chronometer movement runs strong and accurate ~ signed crown winds, sets, and screws down smoothly ~ new aftermarket acrylic crystal ~ all functions working properly ~ no dents ~ no dings ~ no damage ~ all of our watches have been tested and serviced if needed ~ stunning ~ it is a very honest piece |
In order to reduce or eliminate any misunderstandings and to create a pleasant buying experience, please read the "entire" listing description, including photos, before asking questions, making offers to purchase, or making a purchse
This is a vintage used watch. It may have lived a life before you, so you should not expect it to be new and flawless. If you want a flawless new watch, please do not buy this. If you want a piece of history in the form of a nice vintage piece, with possibly a dated inscription on the case back, then this may be right for you. Because most vintage watches being offered are between 30-70 years old, small imperfections, scratches, and wear are to be expected
Buying a previously owned or vintage watch is like buying a previously owned or vintage car....it is not just about the price....it is also about condition, condition, condition!
Vintage watch outlet is not a marketplace, we own every watch that we sell
Water resistance is not guaranteed on vintage or previously owned watches unless otherwise stated in the listing
I only sell genuine, authentic, watches in "Very Good" to "Pristine" condition
Condition Guide:
Pristine - Items in "like new" condition. Shows no signs of wear. Worn very little, if at all.
Mint - Items that have minimal wear. Worn only a few times. In "almost new" condition.
Excellent - Items show signs of wear. Light surface scratches and possibly a few small dents or dings. Average condition considering the age of the item.
Very Good - Items that have been worn regularly and have noticeable wear. Scratches, dents, and dings are more visible.

Do you have any questions?
You can recognize Chrono24 Certified watches by the white icon with the letter "C" on the search results pages and respective listing pages. Of course, you can also use search filters to find Certified listings faster. Once you have decided on a Certified watch, you can see at a glance on the listing page whether it is a Partner Certified or Chrono24 Certified watch. See also: What is the difference between Partner Certified and Chrono24 Certified?
2. Testing by Chrono24 watchmakers
After you have booked certification as part of Chrono24 Certified, your watch will be tested and certified by verified watchmakers at our certification center. This includes an authenticity check and a function test. See also: How is the watch tested?
3. You will receive your certified watch including a digital certificate of authenticity
After successful certification, you can be sure that your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed with a digital Certificate of Authenticity and an authenticity guarantee. You can access the Certificate of Authenticity in your Chrono24 account after receiving the watch.
Certified is our new certification service, where verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches purchased on our marketplace. We want to provide buyers of luxury watches on Chrono24 with a worry-free purchasing experience. After successful certification, you’ll receive a digital Certificate of Authenticity confirming the authenticity of your watch. In addition, all certified watches come with an authenticity guarantee. See also: How is the watch checked?
Authenticity check: The authenticity of the watch is checked both inside and out. We also check to make sure the watch meets our definition of authenticity. See: How do we define authenticity?
Functionality check: We test the watch's complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See: How do we define authenticity?
Scope of delivery check: All additional items, such as the original box and papers (if included), are checked for completeness and conformity with the model reference.
Theft check: The watch's serial number is checked against leading stolen watch databases. This ensures that the watch hasn't been stolen or otherwise lost by its rightful owner.
Based on our more than 20 years of experience in the watch industry, we believe that replacing a maximum of 2 essential parts with non-branded aftermarket parts does not affect the authenticity of a watch, as these play an important role in maintaining the functionality of watches. However, any aftermarket parts must be noted in the listing. In addition, the watchmakers will note any deviations from the original condition on the Certificate of Authenticity.
Customized or modified watches as well as non-authentic or counterfeit watches cannot be certified. More detailed information can be found in our information brochure: “Chrono24’s Definition of Authenticity.”
You will then have three options:
1. You can accept the certification results and proceed with your purchase. Your watch will be shipped to you within 1-3 business days.
2. You can cancel your purchase. In this case, we will return the watch to the seller and issue a full refund of both the purchase price and the certification fee.
3. We can ask the seller to reduce the purchase price. If you agree to a lower price, we'll pay you the difference after delivery of the watch.
There is no legal right of withdrawal when buying from a private seller.
If Partner Certified is not available for the watch you want to purchase, you have the option of adding certification for an additional charge of $249 with Chrono24 Certified. In this case, the seller sends the watch to our certification center, where it is tested and certified by our in-house watchmakers.
Regardless of whether you choose a Partner Certified or Chrono24 Certified watch, there is no difference in the process or the quality of the certification. Our definition of authenticity, standardized authenticity check, and verification of the watchmakers ensure that our high quality standards are always met. See also: Who checks the watch?
