Of all the watches that I collect and sell, this is perhaps the only firm that needs little introduction, having built its business over the last century on high quality, innovation, and style. The Rolex Watch Co. of Switzerland, founded by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother in law Alfred Davis, would first establish his business in England (1908) before settling in Switzerland. By 1919, Wilsdorf had established the Manufacture des Montres Rolex, at a time when the movements were crafted in Bienne and the watches were hand-finished in Geneva. On average, more than 200 technicians are involved in producing a single Rolex wristwatch, quite remarkable

If one were to design the perfect everyday sporty or dress watch with an attribute like a strong presence on the wrist, they would design the Rolex Datejust. Even at 36mm the Datejust wears nicely on the wrist given its beefy oyster case and longer lugs. Every vintage collection, even a sport watch collection, has at least one Datejust. The present example of this must-have reference is in beautiful vintage condition

All Certified watches are comprehensively checked against specific criteria by a verified watchmaker. This is the only way we can guarantee the authenticity of your watch. The check includes the following:

Authenticity check: The authenticity of the watch is checked both inside and out. We also check to make sure the watch meets our definition of authenticity. See: How do we define authenticity?

Functionality check: We test the watch's complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See: How do we define authenticity?

Scope of delivery check: All additional items, such as the original box and papers (if included), are checked for completeness and conformity with the model reference.

Theft check: The watch's serial number is checked against leading stolen watch databases. This ensures that the watch hasn't been stolen or otherwise lost by its rightful owner.
The certification process normally takes 1–3 business days.
The Certificate of Authenticity is a digital document that cannot be lost, stolen, or damaged. Once you have received the watch, you will find the certificate in your Chrono24 account. After logging in, you can access it either under the menu item "Buy" or in your Watch Collection.
According to our definition of authenticity, a watch is considered genuine if it is either in its original condition (as made by the manufacturer) or has no more than two non-original, non-branded replacement parts. Permitted aftermarket parts are: crown, bezel, hands, or pushers.

Based on our more than 20 years of experience in the watch industry, we believe that replacing a maximum of 2 essential parts with non-branded aftermarket parts does not affect the authenticity of a watch, as these play an important role in maintaining the functionality of watches. However, any aftermarket parts must be noted in the listing. In addition, the watchmakers will note any deviations from the original condition on the Certificate of Authenticity.

Customized or modified watches as well as non-authentic or counterfeit watches cannot be certified. More detailed information can be found in our information brochure: “Chrono24’s Definition of Authenticity.”
Each watchmaker working at our certification center has all the necessary qualifications and technical equipment available to certify watches from specific brands. If Chrono24 Certified is an optional add-on for a watch, the model can be certified by one of our watchmakers. Should any shortcomings arise during the certification process, we will of course assume responsibility in accordance with our authenticity guarantee. If the inspection reveals that your watch is a fake, it cannot be certified. In this case, you will be notified by our support team and receive an immediate refund of any payments you have already made for the watch and certification.
If, during certification, the watch is found to contain key replacement parts (e.g., different hands) that do not bear a brand name or logo, we will reach out to you.

You will then have three options:

1. You can accept the certification results and proceed with your purchase. Your watch will be shipped to you within 1-3 business days.

2. You can cancel your purchase. In this case, we will return the watch to the seller and issue a full refund of both the purchase price and the certification fee.

3. We can ask the seller to reduce the purchase price. If you agree to a lower price, we'll pay you the difference after delivery of the watch.

Watches marked Partner Certified have already been certified as authentic by a verified watchmaker working with/for the dealer. Participating dealers are carefully selected by Chrono24 and adhere to our strict Partner Certified guidelines. The relevant watchmakers have been audited by us and have the necessary qualifications and resources to certify the watches.

If Partner Certified is not available for the watch you want to purchase, you have the option of adding certification for an additional charge of $249 with Chrono24 Certified. In this case, the seller sends the watch to our certification center, where it is tested and certified by our in-house watchmakers.

Regardless of whether you choose a Partner Certified or Chrono24 Certified watch, there is no difference in the process or the quality of the certification. The Certificate of Authenticity contains information about the brand and model of the watch as well as the date of issue. The watch’s serial number, production year, reference number, and TC number are also shown on the certificate. If the watchmaker notices any deviations from the original condition with regard to authenticity or the replacement of individual parts during the check, these will also be noted. You have exclusive access to the Certificate of Authenticity after logging into your Chrono24 account.
Together with your certified watch, you will receive a digital Certificate of Authenticity including an authenticity guarantee. This guarantee is based on our definition of authenticity and is valid for 30 days from the certificate’s date of issue. If you find that your watch does not meet our definition of authenticity, please contact our support team. They will look into the matter immediately.
