Description |
We proudly present this 18ct yellow gold Rolex Daytona for sale in mint condition, fully checked and authenticated in our accredited workshop.
Born out of the early 1930’s sports watches worn by Sir Malcom Campbell, Rolex has long been associated with motor racing and speed. Then in the mid-1950’s Rolex produced a watch with a telemeter and tachymetre scale on the dial accompanied by 3 sub-dials for timing up to 12 hours. In 1963 Rolex removed the telemeter scale and moved the tachymeter onto the bezel for increased dial legibility and introduced the world to the term ‘Cosmograph’. But it was not until 1965 that the term ‘Daytona’ was used on the model, which came about as Rolex was the official timepiece of the racetrack. The subsequent models that followed have become some of the most desirable, collectable and expensive watches ever produced, not just because of the ‘exotic’ Paul Newman dials or the El Primero movements of the 1990’s but because of the pure racing heritage of the collection as well as the quality of the watches themselves. Thanks to the Daytona`s legendary status as the ultimate racing tool watch, it has often appeared in luxurious precious metal cases ever since the reference 6263 in 1969. These precious metal Daytona`s are produced in far more limited numbers than their steel counterparts and thus have become very collectable in the years since. This version of the infamous Daytona, reference 116528 comes set in a polished 40mm 18ct yellow gold Oyster case with engraved units-per-hour bezel. The dial is clean black colour with applied diamond hour indexes, sword hands and triple chronograph sub-dials at 3/6/9. Protected by a flat sapphire crystal glass and fitted with screw-down pushers and Triplock crown, allowing for a water resistance of 10atm (100m/330ft). The watch is powered by the automatic Rolex calibre 4130 mechanism which is rated to superlative chronometer tolerance of +2/-2 seconds per day. It comes fitted on a matching 18ct yellow gold Oyster link bracelet with a folding Oysterlock safety clasp with the Easylink extension system. Originally produced circa 2006 and supplied in mint condition with original Rolex hologram still in place on the caseback, this Daytona comes with the original inner and outer Rolex boxes and instruction booklet. This watch is sold with our 12-month warranty from the date of purchase. Please contact us for shipping costs to the E.U. All images are of the actual watch for sale. We do not use library pictures. |
