Launched in 1954, the GMT Master (GMT=Greenwich Mean Time) was designed in collaboration with Pan American Airways. Having an accurate wristwatch was an absolute necessity for pilots in those days, Rolex was able to give it to them. It is well known, the GMT-Master wasn’t only popular amongst Pan-Am pilots (or civil aviation), it was also popular for NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and U.S. Air Force pilots. In addition, business people who travelled to different time zones started wearing the Rolex GMT-Master, as reading home time and local time at the same time has a positive effect on fighting jet lags.

The GMT-Master II 116710LN released in 2007. The GMT Master II 116710LN is presented in a robust and functional 40mm steel case. As mentioned the GMT Master II 116710LN features an extra hand (in addition to the hours, minutes and seconds) which circles its black dial every 24 hours. The time can be adjusted towards and backwards independently from seconds and minutes hands.
