Inspired by the aerobatics of the Alpha jet and the Pilatus PC-7, the Pierre Kunz Virevoltante - or Twirling Second - is quite the sight to behold. It gets its tongue-twister of a name from the bewildering action of its seconds' hand, which plunges downwards only to rise again, meticulously tracing its special trajectory to restart its circuit - this time in the opposite direction. Since this happens in 5 hundredths of a second - following the movement of the seconds' hand is like watching a skilled illusionist at work. The sunburst, engine-turned dial serves as a wonderful backdrop for the sleight-of-hand that's taking place, and its black rays contrast the brushed steel that it's encased in. Having been integrated into the Retrograde assembly, the "Geneva" logo swings from right to left, as though to invoke the spirit of the pendulum clocks of old times. The hours' hand points at a Roman numeral subdial to indicate the hour, while the minutes are shown on an Arabic numeral one. This is said to have been done to enhance legibility, but we all know that Pierre Kunz did it simply to show us that they could. And we're very thankful they did. The Pierre Kunz Seconde Virevoltante Retrograde is powered by a highly modified and well-finished ETA cal. 2892-A2 movement. It was serviced in late 2018 and is ticking accurately. Our offering is in great condition and comes with box and a brand new original, hand-stitched alligator strap. Since the watch is made in a limited run, ours is numbered 73.
The watch is covered by 1 year of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces, which is restricted to the continuous operation and fair timekeeping of said watch, and does not cover misuse, neglect, abuse, water damage, or any other abnormal wear.
