Description

This Very Rare Patek Philippe Ref. 5020R-013 Perpetual Chronograph Cushion Shaped Is Complete. Accompanied with it's certificate of origin, second case back, setting pin, instruction manual, factory shipping box, plastic sleeve and presentation box. This late example 5020R-013 was produced in 2004 which would be the final year of production. There were approximately only 120-150 examples produced in rose gold and only around 13 have surfaced to date. This exceptional example has been extremely well preserved and in excellent condition with crisp and legible hallmarks.

The 5020R-013 perpetual chronograph manual wind watch, features a 37 mm case. This is a rose example with silver dial with breguet numerals and a rose gold deployant buckle. Functions include hours, minutes, seconds, day, date, month, moon phase, leap year indicator, 24 hour indicator and chronograph.

Launched in 1994 and in production for about 10 years, Patek Philippes reference 5020, also known as the TV Screen due to its particular cushion shape was an alternative to the reference 3970 featuring the same complications (and mechanically identical): perpetual calendar with leap year, 24 hour indicator and chronograph. However, its unusual case shape elicited lukewarm reactions from clients leading to very low production numbers.

The reference 5020s avant garde design and tasteful proportions sets it apart from other perpetual calendar chronographs from Patek Philippe. It is believed that around 150 examples were produced in rose gold, 100 in platinum, 100 in white gold and 350 in yellow gold.
