Michael Ovitz – Master Watch Patron: Michael Ovitz, a Chicagoan born in 1946, talked his way into the famous mailroom of the William Morris Talent Agency without any connections, after which he and four other young colleagues continued on to form the Creative Artists Agency, becoming the talent agent for Kevin Costner, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Michael Douglas, Sylvester Stallone, and Barbara Streisand, as well as directors Steven Spielberg, Sydney Pollack, and Barry Levinson. In 1995 he left to become the president of The Walt Disney Company under the chairman, Michael Eisner, leaving Disney two years later with a severance package of $38 million dollars in cash, and $100 million in Disney Stock. He is also an advertising mogul, and a notorious negotiator, having facilitated television’s David Letterman’s move from NBC to CBS.

Michael Ovitz is a phenomenal legend: "When the history of Hollywood is written, few people will have played a larger role than Michael Ovitz..." The Wall Street Journal

Besides being one of the world’s top art collectors, owning major paintings by Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Jasper Johns and Mark Rothko, among others, Mr. Ovitz has been a dedicated and committed watch collector of the highest order for decades. He is indeed a power player in horology; his knowledge and passion for the greatest wristwatches in the world are renowned. He has a longstanding friendship with the Stern family, who took over the Patek Philippe company in 1932. Mr. Ovitz formed a special relationship with Philipe Stern, who became president of Patek Philippe in 1977, and also with Philipe’s son, Thierry, who ascended to the presidency in 2009. As a confrere of the Patek Manufacture, Mr. Ovitz ordered special versions of several other watches, including the Patek models 3970, 5970, 5004, 5270, 3940, 5020, and more. The unique Pateks that were customized per his suggestions honor him with the monogram, "M.S.O". on the bottom of the dials. Everything he touches turns to gold – including the Patek Philippe watches that were golden already.
