Description |
Panerai PAM 231 Radiomir Base 18kt Rose Gold, Black 'Sandwich' Dial with Luminous Arabic and Index Numerals Hour Markers, Rose Gold Luminescent Baton Hands, Exclusive Hand-Wound Mechanical Panerai OP X Calibre Movement with Incabloc Anti-Shock Device and Côtes de Genève Decoration on the Bridges, Sapphire Exhibition Skeleton Case Back, Brown Leather Strap with Pin Back, 45mm, Limited Edition of Only 500 Pieces (J-Series)
The manual winding calibre OP X is rhodium plated with fausses cotes decoration. It's constructed with 17 jewels, monometallic balance, and a straight-line lever escapement; it has a shock absorber mechanism, a self-compensating flat balance spring, and an index regulator. The case, dial, and movement are all signed. Giovanni Panerai opened his watchmaking shop in Florence in 1860, serving as the city’s first watchmaking school as well. His reputation grew, and by the early 20th century, Officine Panerai was supplying high precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. Starting with the Radiomir in 1916, the manufacturer began a long history of patents and industry-leading advances that would reshape watchmaking and propel the Panerai name into one of international prestige. The Radiomir was the first watch created by Panerai and has since become an icon among timepieces. Its design hallmarks include a large, cushion-shaped case, wire lugs and a luminescent dial with unparalleled legibility. |
