When you work at Chrono24, the world’s largest online marketplace for luxury watches, the topic of watches is unavoidable. This series will give our own watch lovers the chance to tell their stories. Some caught the watch bug after they began working at Chrono24, others had already lost their heart to the world of horology long before joining us.
Our team represents a microcosm of the global watch community: Our preferences and opinions about brands and models are as diverse as our reasons for why we find watches so fascinating. This is clearly reflected in the Team Chrono24 Watch Collection.
The “Watches of Team Chrono24” series gives us the opportunity to share our watches, their corresponding stories, and our passion with you.

What watch are you currently wearing?
I’m wearing my Rolex GMT-Master II.
How did you come to own this watch?
I bought it for myself as a birthday present. Since I’m still in college, it felt like I had to save for an eternity before I could finally afford it. I just had to have it.
Why this watch?
I used to want to be a pilot, and I like to travel. The GMT-Master II was developed specifically for pilots so that they could quickly see the time in different time zones at once. It made sense for me. Plus, it’s super versatile: It’s robust yet elegant and looks as nice with a suit as it does with a t-shirt and jeans. NATO straps in different colors also look great with it, and it’s comfortable to wear.
What have you experienced with this watch?
I’m basically always wearing my watch, so the experiences I’ve had with it are as multifaceted as the watch itself. I wore it to my graduation when I got my Bachelor’s degree, when I moved to Karlsruhe, in the Malaysian rainforest, and even to a festival – and on my first day at Chrono24, of course.
What role does this watch play in your collection?
It’s my first mechanical watch, which makes it particularly special. Some of my friends couldn’t care less about watches and don’t understand my passion. To them, it’s probably one of the most irrational things you could buy. I’ve never regretted it, though, and I’m sure I will own this watch forever.
What fascinates you about watches in general?
It’s how a long tradition, modern technology, sophisticated mechanics, and timeless craftsmanship can all fit into one tiny object. Wearing a mechanical watch is almost like a silent message to other watch wearers and aficionados who share your enthusiasm.
Do you have a favorite brand?
Yes, Richard Mille. The technological sophistication, mechanics, and material of watches from this brand seem like they could be from Iron Man’s suit. Despite their extreme complexity, the result is still remarkably simple and unbelievably fascinating.
What watch would you like to buy next?
I currently have my eye on a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Chronograph, but it’ll be a long time before I get there.
