The Watch Collection of Team Chrono24

It doesn’t get much easier than buying and selling watches on Chrono24. However, acquiring a timepiece is just the beginning of your journey. Whether you’re looking to make a fashion statement or make a profit by reselling your watch, it’s worth keeping an eye on each timepiece’s performance. Our Watch Collection tool does just that, with minimal effort on your part. Check it out in your myChrono24 account.

If you’ve read any of our previous articles, you already know that we have diverse tastes in watches at Chrono24. They encompass everything from big names like Omega and Rolex to smaller brands like NOMOS and Glycine. To keep track of it all, we’ve created our own Chrono24 Watch Collection, featuring some of the watches worn by the team at our headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany. Discover the most interesting pieces and those that have performed the best over the years in our article below!

The 3 top-performing watches in Team Chrono24’s Watch Collection

The 3 top-performing watches in Team Chrono24's Watch Collection

One of the most useful features in Chrono24’s Watch Collection tool comes when you click on an individual timepiece. This reveals how much that particular watch has changed in value under the label “Profit” or “Loss.” Your gains and losses are displayed both as a percentage and in monetary terms.

In Team Chrono24’s Watch Collection, there are 3 pieces that have performed particularly well. The top performer is the Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022. Since our colleague purchased it at market price in 2012, it’s increased in value by a whopping 180%. This just goes to show the effect that high demand can have on the price of certain timepieces over the course of just 5-6 years.
The next-best performer is a lovely Rolex GMT-Master 1675. Its price has increased by about 125% since finding its new home. Third place goes to yet another Speedmaster: the Omega Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award. Indeed, this is a very special timepiece. It has increased in value by over 80% in recent years.

Team Chrono24’s Watch Collection also contains plenty of timepieces with unknown or unstated purchase prices (you don’t have to enter a value to use the tool). It’s worth noting that the aforementioned gains don’t necessarily represent how much the market price for an individual timepiece has changed, but rather how much it’s worth today relative to its purchase price.

The most popular brands in team Chrono24’s Watch Collection

Any company as large as Chrono24 will employ a wide variety of individuals. That diversity also translates to our wrists. Some people prefer more modern designs, while others can’t get enough of vintage pieces. There are those who are willing to pay an arm and a leg to get the timepiece of their dreams and others who stick to strict budgets. As a result, it’s interesting to see which brands have the most fans among our colleagues. Of course, we have to keep in mind that this is only a selection of our colleagues’ timepieces and not representative of everyone’s full collections. Even so, trends quickly emerge.

Omega sits at the top of the list, with over 14 timepieces floating around our company headquarters alone. After Omega, Rolex occupies the second spot on the podium. As two of the world’s greatest watch manufacturers, this comes as no surprise. Third place, however, may be more of a shock.

Coming in behind those two behemoths is NOMOS in third place. While it may be surprising at first, this is more understandable when you remember we’re a German company. A glance at these watches reveals why they are so popular: they combine beautiful Bauhaus-inspired designs with affordable prices.

If you were expecting a certain Japanese brand instead, you wouldn’t be wrong. In fact, third place is actually a tie between NOMOS and Seiko. Seiko watches are legendary, reliable, and fun. With 2 Swiss giants at the top, it’s only fair that one German and one Japanese brand should share third place.

Over a dozen other brands are represented in Team Chrono24’s Watch Collection, including Longines, Tudor, Panerai, Hamilton, Certina, and Zenith.

Considering the diversity of watch types, Team Chrono24’s Watch Collection contains a lot of dress watches. Whether they’re new or vintage, every timepiece is distinctly elegant. However, our younger team members seem to have a thing for sporty watches, which dominate our collection. You’ll find the full range, from diving watches to various chronographs. In keeping with the sporty theme, many of these timepieces come on a NATO or nylon strap.

When we looked at crowd-pleasers for use in the air, on land, and at sea, three models stood out: The Seiko SKX007K1 takes us to our planet’s oceans. As one of the coolest diving watches on the market, it’s affordable and looks as good on dry land as it does under water. As its name suggests, our second choice, the Omega Flightmaster, is most at home in the air. This vintage chronograph with a GMT function and 60-second rotating internal bezel was clearly made with pilots in mind. Today, it’s among the most highly-coveted Omega sports models from the 1970s. Last but not least, we come back to land and the Rolex Explorer. There’s no better watch to represent land-based adventures. Even the most inexperienced watch novice knows this iconic timepiece’s impressive résumé, which includes summiting the world’s highest peaks.

As mentioned at the beginning, Team Chrono24’s Watch Collection is as diverse as the people who work here. Our collection represents the full breadth of watches, from vintage chronographs to modern marvels. Considering the youthful age distribution of our team, the balance between old and new is striking. As time goes by, this collection will continue to grow and transform – and we’ll be here to report on it.
