Great Watches Under $5,000

Tudor Heritage 70330N Chrono

Tudor released the Heritage Chrono back in 2013, just one year after the very first Black Bay. At the time, it was a refreshingly new design. The Heritage Chrono played a major role in the early rise of the brand. It was a fundamentally different timepiece that drew inspiration from a rare vintage Tudor chronograph. Most of the original watch’s design features were kept intact, which offered a breath of fresh air that the market needed. Its look was unmistakable; you could recognize a Tudor Heritage Chrono from a mile away. The watch featured screw-down chronograph pushers, a funky 1970s color scheme, and unusually-shaped subdials. Despite the historic details, the brand managed to create a trendy, modern timepiece. Another factor contributing to the success of the Tudor Heritage Chrono is its relatively low price point – a robust watch with a beloved complication priced under $3,000 is destined to be a success. Even years after its introduction, the Heritage Chrono is still a favorite among watch lovers.

Enthusiast’s Corner: Rare and Exceptional Timepieces

Harry Winston Project Z11

This isn’t your everyday watch, but in this segment, we try to introduce something new or out of the ordinary. When you hear the name Harry Winston, the first thing that probably comes to mind is baguette diamonds, emerald earrings, or other types of jewelry. While jewelry has indeed been the bread and butter of the Swiss/American company for many years now, Harry Winston also creates incredible timepieces for our viewing pleasure. Today’s watch, the Harry Winston Project Z11 stands out not only with its looks, but also with its complication and case material. At 42 mm, it is not a monstrosity, but it is still a sizeable round watch with huge crown guards and a rare calfskin leather strap with a denim effect and rubber base. The main complication, a large date with two separate date discs, is located at 6 o’clock and is visible through the skeletonized dial. Lastly, the Z11 is made of an alloy called Zalium. The zirconium-based material has origins in the aerospace industry, but Harry Winston often uses it for their jewelry and timepieces.

Iconic Timepieces: Great Value for Money

Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo XIII 45th Anniversary Silver Snoopy Award

Everyone is talking about the new Omega Speedmaster Professional “Silver Snoopy Award,” a beautiful chronograph with a panda dial, blue accents and bezel, and Snoopy casually spacewalking across the 9 o’clock subdial. However, this is not the first time Omega has featured the famous cartoon beagle on one of their watches. In 2003, Snoopy appeared on the dial of an Omega Speedmaster for the first time. Watch enthusiasts had to wait 12 years before the beloved dog made another appearance – and this is the watch we are talking about today. Over the years, the Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo XIII Silver Snoopy Award has appreciated tremendously in value. Is it due to its rarity? Well, although the watch did have a limited run of 1,970 pieces to commemorate the year the Apollo XIII space mission returned to Earth, it is hardly a rarity. Nevertheless, in less than five years, the Omega Speedmaster Professional Apollo XIII Silver Snoopy Award has become a classic among Omega collectors. It is an iconic timepiece that represents a new era in Speedmaster design; one in which the brand is more open to bold and daring looks, contrary to previous limited editions. This timepiece is the pride and joy of every collection.
