Description

Luminox Ice-Sar Arctic Quartz White Dial Silver Stainless Steel Men's Watch XL.1207 RRP £755
History:
As the official partner of the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) Luminox is committed to creating watches that meet the needs of these intrepid public servants as they go about their daily duties - which can mean dealing with volcanic eruptions, avalanches, shipwrecks, mega storms and even more, the Luminox ICE-SAR Arctic series. The ICE-SAR team are responsible for the search and rescue of the souls in need of saving in Icelands harsh climate. The ICE-SAR teams need a timepiece on which they can rely, which is why they chose Luminox as their official timepiece. Truly becoming an essential piece of gear to ICE-SAR team in order to conduct their missions.

Style:
With its rugged style, this watch fits the bill for any extreme adventurer. The timepiece has a shock resistant construction, from the stainless steel case to the screw in, double security gasket crown. Also, a tough and resilient sapphire crystal glass is used with anti-reflective coating to prevent it from the glare of the sun. In terms of the dial, a map of the Arctic circle can be seen which focuses into the capital of Iceland. Also, you can find coordinates on the dial of 64-08-17N, 21-55-43W which points to the ICE-SAR headquarters in Reykjavik. Replacing the 12 o'clock index is the ever present Luminox logo in which is where the inspiration for the colour scheme of the dial comes from. The rest of the indexes come in both a 12 and 24 hour format to meet the needs of both suitors. A red line going horizontally across the dial centres onto the date window, just like the rendezvous point of an expedition. The very outside of the dial is raised, also known as a chapter ring shows indexes for the seconds in five step increments. Then, a silver stainless steel bracelet can be fastened using a deployment clasp.
Functions:
All Luminox watches feature a self-powered illumination system employing tiny micro gas light sources. This unique Swiss technology guarantees unsurpassed ability to read the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for up to 25 years. Each watch has micro gas lights mounted on the hands, dial and, when necessary, also on the bezel. This unique technology does not depend on an external light source to 'charge' fluorescent paint on the dial or hands in order to glow, nor do Luminox watches require the push of a button to light up as do watches with elctroluminescene. A bezel on-top of the stainless steel case features a compass to help you on an expedition in the harshest of climates. The compass works by using the position of the hour hand and the position of the sun, with the middle of the gap indicating south. If you then rotate the compass bezel so that its south indicator matches this, it will allow you to read other compass directions.

This watch has a water resistance of 200 metres, making it suitable for diving.

The Family: Ice-Sar Arctic
As the official partner of the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) Luminox is committed to creating watches that meet the needs of these intrepid public servants as they go about their daily duties - which can mean dealing with volcanic eruptions, avalanches, shipwrecks, mega storms and even more.
