We are proud to present this rare and sought after vintage pre-Genta IWC Ingenieur 666 for sale in fine condition for its age.
First launched in 1955, as IWC`s first purpose built watch to combat both moisture and the magnetic effects encountered in scientific and industrial workplaces, hence the name `Ingenieur` ie `Engineer`. This anti-magnetic resistance was achieved through the utilisation of the soft iron inner case of the IWC Mark XI military watch, which was then paired with a new in-house movement. First offered in both non date and date format, the 666 can be said to be one of the most hard-to-find vintage IWC models on the market today. This can primarily be attributed to a combination of limited production, restrained aesthetics and the passage of time itself, the culmination being that there are very few pre-Genta Ingenieurs left in as good condition as this example. Most interesting of all however, the `triple 6` offered 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance and a magnetic resistance up to 1,000 Gauss (80,000 A/m).
This pre-Genta `triple 6` Ingenieur comes set in a round 36.5mm stainless steel case with a smooth polished bezel and pin hole shoulders. The dial is a clean silver sunburst with polished dauphine hands, pointed baton indexes, luminova hour indices and date aperture 3 o`clock. The watch is powered by the infamous in-house automatic calibre 8531 movement and protected by a soft iron inner case as well as a screwdown closed caseback. This Ingenieur is completed by a stainless steel beads of rice bracelet with folding clasp with pin micro adjustment. Please be advised that due to the age of this watch we cannot guarantee the original 10atm (100m/330ft) water resistance and would advise against using around water.
Originally produced circa 1964 (aged from case and movement number) and in fine condition for its age, this Ingenieur comes supplied with an IWC service box, our authenticity card and our 12-month warranty.
