Hublot presented a world first, with a minute repeater watch featuring two “cathedral” type gongs, a tourbillon and column wheel chronograph, with carbon fiber bridges, in a case made from 18kt "King" Rose Gold and carbon fiber in.

This is a perfect illustration of “Fusion” between great watchmaking tradition and the technology of the future.

It is a timepiece with a sophisticated mechanism, featuring three major Haute Horlogerie complications particularly prized by connoisseurs and collectors, but revisited in a resolutely contemporary spirit: The main particularity lies in the fact that the three complications are visible from the dial side.

The Hublot "Big Bang King Power" featuring the triple complications of a minute repeater, single button chronograph and tourbillon, embodies traditional watchmaking forged with cutting-edge techniques. Hublot's iconic "Big Bang" case combines carbon-fibre and "King Gold", a redder 18k gold alloy with an increased percentage of copper and platinum devised and used by Hublot's metallurgists. Improving on traditional precious metal alloys to enhance performance and appearance and exploring the expansive realm of materials available is at the core of Hublot's "Art of Fusion" philosophy. Hublot presented a world first, with a minute repeater watch featuring two “cathedral” type gongs, a tourbillon and column wheel chronograph, with carbon fiber bridges, in a case made from 18kt "King" Rose Gold and carbon fiber in. Besides the 18kt "King" Rose Gold and carbon fibre, the case is also fashioned with materials such as titanium and rubber, which is a perfect illustration of the Art of Fusion key to Hublot. From a design point of view, the minute repeater bolt is ingeniously integrated into the King Power case middle, just like the chronograph control push-piece subtly integrated into the watch's crown. The minute repeater, activated by means of a lever situated between 8 and 10 o'clock, sounds the hours, quarter-hours and minutes. Its two “cathedral” gongs (one for hours and the other for minutes) are double the length of a regular gong. The whole design aims for a very uncomplicated overall effect for a piece of this level.

Those who tend to play with modern minute repeaters on a regular basis know that, even with the most impressive models, the sound is highly underwhelming. A minute repeater is supposed to tell you the time via a code of chimes and is only useful if you can hear it. Most of the time, if you want to use one you need to be in a really quite room, tell everyone to hush, and place the watch next to your ear in order to hear the little dings. This is not the case with this stunning release from Hublot. The Hublot Big Bang King Power Grande Complication "Cathedral" Minute Repeater Tourbillon and Column Wheel Chronograph Skeleton in 18kt "King" Rose Gold features a Minute Repeater that you'd be proud to strike and show off to your friends.

In the watch, the minute repeater has two cathedral style gongs: Two gongs each with a different sound - one for hours, and one for minutes. The minute repeater is activated by sliding the left flank of the case up. This flank is a typical design element of the King Power and Big Bang watches making it is a sort of "hidden lever."

The chronograph is done in two subdials on the face - one for the minutes and one for the seconds. It is a monopusher with the push piece being integrated into the crown. The chronograph is even more unusual for not having a centrally mounted seconds hand. You can see the column wheel for the chronograph in the dial located under 12 o'clock. The skeletonization is impressive as the dial design places most of the mechanical elements on the front of the watch and through the caseback you do see a carbon fiber movement plate.

The manual-winding mechanical movement boasts a 5-day power reserve. The hour and minute indicator is situated centrally, for a conventional readout. The flying tourbillon – with suspended cage – is situated at 6 o'clock, and features an unusual structure of very high quality: indeed, the cage rotates without a ball bearing, and has a Swiss lever escapement.

Production of the exclusive timepiece is limited to just 10 pieces, with each one individually numbered.

In an innovative fusion of materials, the case is made of 18K King Gold, the 18 carat gold alloy used by Hublot, the exact composition of which is classified.

Its exclusive color is even redder than traditional 5N red gold. To achieve this, the Hublot metallurgists increase the percentage of copper and added platinum in order to stabilize the color over the years and to neutralize oxidation.
