Description

Founded in 1892,the Hamilton Watch Company of Lancaster, PA would not officially start its watch production until March 1894, having first chosen the name Columbian Watch Co. But this name was already copyrighted by the Waterbury Co. The name "Hamilton" was derived from Lancaster's founding father, Mr. Andrew Hamilton, a Scottish-born attorney who was instrumental in the growth of Lancaster.

By 1908 Hamilton was producing a ladies pendant watch and during the WWI period a small line of military style watches were available for men. Hamilton never looked back, arguably producing the highest quality American made watches from the 1920s through the 1960s.

Great estate find. This watch is in excellent condition. Running strong and keeping accurate time. The original band is a Kreisler 1/20 10k Gold Filled. This watch was not worn much, and well taken care of. Shows minimal signs of wear. Originally made for a man. However, can be worn by a woman as well. Expansion band will fit up to a 7.25" wrist comfortably before it starts to expand to accommodate a larger wrist. Serviced (complete overhaul) in January, 2021.
