SPEC
Model: SBGN023 Year: 2021 Scope: Original Box & Papers Movement: Quartz Case Width: 40mm Strap Length: 180mm Condition: This watch is in excellent condition, with light marks to the lugs. Watch comes with original box, outer box, service papers, booklets, dated guarantee papers and purchase receipt. Grand Seiko does quartz a little differently. Instead of reserving it for ladies watches, the brand treats it as an equal to the mechanical hi-beat as well as the Spring Drive calibres. Naturally, Grand Seiko's quartz movements are rated to a variation of 10 seconds per year, making them extraordinarily precise. The read difference, however, lies in how well these movements are made and decorated. While other quartz movements use plastic, Grand Seiko uses only metal for a more durable movement. The plates are also well-decorated with striping, while the countersinks and screws are polished to a high standard - something only seen in high-end mechanical movements. GRAND SEIKO In 1967, a Japanese company shattered a century of Swiss supremacy in the watch world. During the Neuchatel Observatory trials (a competition that sought to find the most accurate watch movements), Seiko and its subsidiaries took second and third place as one of the best movement manufacturers in the world, only losing the top spot to Omega. The following year, the trials were permanently cancelled. When the trials returned in 2009, one rule was added: "All parts used to build the movement must be made within Europe." This origin story may sound highly dramatic, but it's how Grand Seiko was born. Today, the brand has gone from strength to strength. While it made its name shocking the industry with its highly accurate chronometer movements, Grand Seiko continued innovating by releasing the 9F Quartz, Hi-Beat and Spring Drive movements. |
