Description
Deceptively simple, Christophe Claret has departed from his usual style of packing his watches full of complications. Despite the lack of tourbillons and minute repeaters, the Maestoso is anything but plain. With a detent-style escapement and constant force escapement, the movement allows more direct impulse from the balance wheel to the escape wheel, which offers a more accurate transfer of power leading to greater timing precision. Because the detent-style escapements are generally designed for use in stationary timepieces, Claret had to create three new patented inventions to keep it stable and wearable. The Maestoso also boasts a cylindrical balance spring instead of a flat balance spring, a highly unusual choice for wristwatch design. For these reasons, the movement is shown primarily on the face instead of through a display back for maximum appreciation.
