Lovely Bulova Accutron in gold filled and stainless steel

Lovely stainless steel 34.5mm Bulova Accutron from 1971. The watch has a round dial with creamy dial. Hours are marked with gold batons and Arabic numerals. It comes with gold Dauphine hands and the date window at 3 o’clock. The crown at 4 o’clock has the Bulova logo. The case is in gold filled with engraved in the back “ Bulova – Clifford Hoffman – Upon retirement 8-1-1971 – Esso International Inc – F43886 – 14K gold filled case”. It comes with a electronic movement with caliber 2181. The watch comes with a brown strap.

The story of Joseph Bulova started in 1875 in the New York area in opening a small jewelry store in the Maiden Lane. Years after years, Bulova offers a full line of watches. In 1926, Bulova introduce a world premier “a practical clock radio”. 1930-1940 is a period of tremendous success for the brand with its rectangular gold-filled wristwatches with highly cambered cases. In the 1950’s, Bulova is the first with electronic watches, the “Accutron”. In 1967, Bulova bought Universal then in 1979 is acquired by Loews Corp. and in 2001bought Wittnauer.
