Description |
This is a pre-owned Breitling Datora chronograph gents 784 watch. 35mm case size in stainless steel, silver arabic dial on a black leather bracelet, powered by a mechanical wind movement. This Breitling is in good condition complete with xupes presentation pouch. Circa 1940's. Our Xupes reference is COM746 should you need to quote this. THIS WATCH IS UNDER OFFER FOR A LIMITED TIME."Breitling were among the few brands to produce the most accurate and reliable chronograph wristwatches in history following the end of WWII. The Breitling Datora is an epitome of it’s class and although many were made, few are found with good dial and case conditions. This piece from the 1940s shows some signs of usage and work to the case. The lugs and case body are not exactly accurate to this sub-dial and dial signature configuration and have been polished and worked on to give an accurate shape, but the case back and remaining exterior case parts are appropriate and in great condition, suggesting the watchcase was damaged and replaced some time in its history. 32mm case diameter, 35mm case to crown. The watch comes with a black calves leather pin-buckle strap. The silver dial is still completely legible, showing stunning original black Arabic numerals and markers for hours, seconds and sub-dials. Blue date numerals around the inner bezel and calendar windows above the brand sign. The red arrow date hand is one of the rarities, seen in tact, but hardly surprising considering the rest of the dials condition, including original script Breitling signature with Datora in capitals below. The square chronograph pushers have also seen some brushing but are in great condition. All calendar and chronograph functions in good working order. Due to the age and case-build of this watch it can not be sealed for water tightness and cannot be guaranteed for accurate timekeeping."Jacob Tomkins is founder and publisher of Twelve: Watch Buyer’s Journal.
