The tourbillon escapement is located 6 o'clock. It has a hexagonal winding crown, is water resistant to 50 meters, and there is a 70-hour power reserve. This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 26510ST.OO.1220OR.01 has a mechanical manual winding Audemars Piguet caliber 2924 movement that's rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment. It's constructed with 25 jewels, 216 components, and a right-angle lever escapement. It includes a shock absorber device, a monometallic gyromax balance that's adjusted for heat, cold, and 5 positions, and a variable inertia block balance. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz.
Jaeger-LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet first produced the Royal Oak in 1972, with a custom Jaeger-LeCoultre movement. It was named for the British battleships of World War II, which in turn were named for the oak tree in which Charles II of England hid from his enemies, the Roundheads. The brilliant horologist Gerald Genta designed it. This extremely limited edition of the classic design has a prestigious movement within an ultra-thin case, and it's the first tourbillon wristwatch introduced in 1986.
