J.W. Benson. A Heavy 18ct Gold Half Hunter Minute Repeater Keyless Lever Pocket Watch with a Heavy 18ct Gold Albert Watch Chain C1895.

Dial:The excellent white enamel dial with Roman Numerals outer minute track and subsidiary seconds dial at six o'clock. The original blued steel double spade hand with original blued steel seconds hand, complimenting the dial perfectly. The repeater slide is located at the side of the case.

Case: The heavy 18ct yellow gold half hunter case with raised chapter ring to the front cover with roman numerals embellished with blue enamel. The back cover has an engraving of a Bull with the words God is Courteous. The inner cover is plain. The cases are all English hallmarked for 1895 and the casemaker was J.W.Benson.

Movement: The superb gilt finished three quarter plate Swiss ebauche and English finished movement, fully jewelled to the centre abor with screwed in chatons. The compensation balance with blued over coiied hairspring, with fast slow regulation. The movement is fully signed J.W.Benson 62-64 Ludgate Hill London. By Special Warrants to H M The Queen and H.R.H the Prince of Wales being Queen Victoria's husband Albert.The chimes strike the hour, the quarters and the minutes clearly .

This is a fine minute Repeating pocket watch showing the combined English and Swiss craftsmanship at work. J.W.Benson supplied many numerous pocket watches to his well established clientel. This watch has the benefit of a fine 18ct yellow gold watch albert 42grms which matches the watch perfectly. This watch would make an excellent addition to one's collection.
