Description

Army & Navy. A Very Heavy 18ct Yellow Gold Half Hunter Keless Lever Minute Repeater Pocket Watch, C1882.

Dial: The excellent white enamel dial numbered with Roman numerals outer minute track and subsidiary seconds dial at six o'clock. The original blued steel double spade hand with matching seconds hand.

Case: The very heavy (162grm) 18ct yellow gold English hallmarked case which is unpolished. The front cover with inlaid blue enamel Roman numerals surrounding the open aperture, the back cover is plain as is the inner cover. The repeater slide is located on the side of the case. The casemaker was Philippe Woodman, one of the finest case makers of his time.

Movement: The superb English three quarter plate movementfully signed Army & Navy C.S Ltd meaning Co-Operative Society, 117 Victoria Street London S.W. The movement is fully jewelled with screwed in chatons to the centre abor, movements like this were of the finest quality. The watch has a slow fast regulator. The hammers and gongs can not be seen but the watch has a beautiful chime.

The Army & Navy Store was located in Queen Victoria Street. It was established in 1871 to supply British Officers working for the British Empire. This rare pocket watch is in excellent condition and would make a fine addition to one's collection.
