Description

Scarce and very collectible Zenith 18K rose gold "Chronometre Zenith" with highly regarded calibre 135 chronometer movement circa 1956. This is a large 36.5 x 45mm heavy rose gold case, with large 13" caliber 135 movement. Featuring original matte silver dial with applied pink "coffin" shaped indexes, tapered pink sword dhands, oversize sub seconds bit, and signed "Chronometre Zenith" with pink applied star above, and "Swiss Made" at bottom. Dial shows some tarnish on the edges of the markers, and a small abrasion below the 2 o'clock index. The fine raised rose "pearls" on the perimeter of the dial are all sharp and clear. This watch has just been fully serviced by our most meticulous watchmaker and is offered with a 1 year warrantee of accurate time keeping and operation. During service a non original crown was replaced with a larger, more appropriate size pink crown.

The movement serial # of 4,518,xxx dates this model to 1956. It is from the second series of caliber 135 movements, first introduced in 1948. The case # is 657603. Offered on your choice of fine or distressed leather or exotic skin strap. A great looking and very collectible, large and high grade model from Zenith.

1 | Lug width

The lug width is the width of the strap at the end that is attached to the watch. This is the interior distance between the two lugs (horn-like protrusions) on the watch casing. The strap will fit your watch only if the lug width of the watch is the same width as the strap.

2 | Buckle width

The buckle width is the width of the strap at the buckle end. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the width of the original buckle must be identical to the strap width. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.

3 | Strap length

The strap length is the combined length of the short strap side 3A (without buckle) and the long strap side 3B. For metal straps, the length of the strap including the clasp is measured in the closed position.

4 | Strap thickness

Strap thickness is the height of the strap. Many leather straps thin out towards the buckle end, or “taper”. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the strap thickness must match the height of the original buckle. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.
