Description

Pieces of Time of Newington, CT (est. 1992) is a retail watch store specializing in collectible mechanical watches. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have or visit us at piecesoftime.com for more information.

Here we have a Waltham Vanguard C-1910 with a seldom-seen wind indicator at 12 o'clock. The Railroad Grade Vanguard movement features 23 jewels and a diamond end stone at the balance wheel (see the closeup photo below), and is marked "Adjusted to 5 Positions". It also features rose gold accents throughout including the center wheel, timing screws, palette, and jewel settings. Yellow gold screws are used to secure the rose gold jewel settings. This was the highest quality Railroad Grade movement made by Waltham, with the only complication allowed on a Railroad Grade watch (the wind indicator).

The dial is double sunk with huge Arabic numeral hour markers and matched blued steel hands. The center of the dial is signed "Waltham" between the wind indicator and the hour and minute hands. It comes housed in a Keystone Victory 10K Rolled Gold, proper American Railroad-style case. Waltham used the Keystone Victory cases for their Railroad grade watches for the first quarter of the 20th century.

The price includes full restoration and repair. The work will be performed after purchase. This entails proper service of the movement, a new mainspring, and anything else that would be necessary to bring the watch into proper working order. Case cleaning and refinishing are also included. The extent of case refinishing, if any will be left up to the new owner.

Once you've made your purchase, please contact us so we may discuss the restoration and case refinishing.

Please allow 1-2 weeks after purchase for service to be completed.
