Watch Condition Grades

There is no general agreement as to how watches should be described. The following classification is how we at chrono24.com feel that the buyer and the seller should understand each other when speaking of condition grades.


0 (New)  
Factory new; sealed in factory box with wax paper intact & all tags & papers etc. Movement unopened


1 (Mint)  
Same as factory new, with very little use. NO faint scratches. Crystal, hands, dial and case original in every way. Used briefly and stored. May be in box. Movement completely original factory new.


2 (Fine)  
Looks little used. Crystal may have been replaced. Original case, hands & dial. Faint scratches hard to detect with the eye. NO dents. NO hairlines on the dial. Original movement. Any repairs used original replacement parts


3 (Fair)  
Hairlines and small chips in dial. Slight worn spots on gold filled case, showing brass. Small dent. Case shows wear and may not be original. Well used. Movement working.


4 (Poor)  
Case well worn with many dents. Needs new dial. Hands and crystal may need replacing. Movement not working.


5 (Scrap)  
Brass showing badly. Case may be missing. No hands or crystal. Bad dial. GOOD FOR PARTS ONLY.
