Center Seconds, Screw-Down Crown, Only Original Parts

PTC excellent full serviced and cleaned TUDOR Oyster ladies/unisex watch with a refinished dial- the dial refinishing was essential as the original dial had fallen to a very low and unreadable state. This well made winding calibre 59 features almost the very first centre seconds time pieces which were the hallmark of the Rolex watch co. in the middle 1940's due to the resurgence of demand and due in particular to shockproof requirements in World War II- it was mass produced in very large numbers, this particular one is a higher end Tudor calibre derived from the FEF calibre 30, it features a monorex shockproof system [see pics]. The movement is excellently serviced to perfection, and has the trademark PTC service behind it. [+/- 30 secs.day only possible due to the aged parts] This 15 jewels movement is not a chronometer rated item, it was first fabricated in the early 1940's and some of the movement parts have shown wear and tear, the used parts have been replaced for only authentic Tudor parts. An original oyster patent crown accompanies this watch and should render it water resistant, this is not going to be a waterproof watch, accidental splashing is ok. The case back shows a very early TUDOR reference # 978 and sr.no. 49368.
This is an excellent time piece with an excellently re-finished case body, the case was losing a lot of it's gold plating, so we have had the gold plating completely redone. It has retained the original look when it was first released. Vintage watch buyers please note that the Tudor small rose logo has been professionally refinished by a quality refinisher.
Medium sized wearers and men's wearers should take account of the unisex value of the time piece; this is a very classic Tudor Oyster 1940's model. We have had this time piece accentuated by putting it on a 16 mm ZRC w/gold plated buckle. The case lugs are 16 mm wide.
