Panerai PAM 01 Pre A Luminor Marina 44mm, RARE!

Excellent condition with a wonderful pacckage of a rare Pre A box, two Pre A straps with sewn in buckles and papers.

This is a very rare Panerai that any collector would be proud to own. It has a 44 mm high polished stainless steel case with the patented locking crown, and is in excellent condition. The black dial has tritium painted numbers that have a nice patina which has turned to a cream color giving it a warm vintage look. It has its original tritium painted hands too. These appear more white, as the hands almost always patina at a different rate than the paint on the dial. At the bottom of the dial, just below the six, you can read the T-Swiss-T logo. This is a very rare logo and only found on Pre Vendom dials.

The only thing missing in this package is the movement sticker. At that time, the movement sticker was applied to a white envelope that held the Libretto and Manual booklets. The envelop and sticker were often ripped open to get to the booklets, and then were discarded. But all of the other original papers are with the package, including both booklets, original warranty card and COSC certificate.

What is a Pre Vendom Panerai model? Basically, this watch was one of the first models created by Panerai while under the new owner ship of Richemont. Richemont also owns many other luxury brands such as Cartier, IWC and Jaeger LeCoultre. The first watches created by the "new" Panerai company used many parts that were developed and used by the "old" Panerai, when it was owned by the Panerai family. At first and for a very short period, Richemont used older parts for what are now called Pre A watches. Soon, newer and different dials, hands, crown guards, straps, buckles, cases, case back numbers, boxes and even paperwork were soon made and used. The first catalog series of watches from Richemont were A series watches. The few dozen watches created with old parts, are 0 series and are affectionately referred as Pre A series Panerai.

Here are some other extremely rare things that are part of the package.

1) Black shoe box outer carton.
2) Pre A pearwood box.
3) White Envelope holding paperwork (no original to this watch)
4) Pre A tan calf with orange underside and sewn in Panerai Pre Vendom buckle. Like New condition.
5) Pre A rubberized black calf with sewn in Panerai Pre V buckle. New Old stock condition.
6) T-Swiss-T logo dial.
7) Pre V locking crown mechanism
8) Case back series number begins with 0.
