As all watches passionates know, the fashion for manual male watches was founded with the necessity and convenience in uncertain times. In the conditions of the World War I turmoil, there simply was no time to check the time searching for a pocket watch in the vest pocket. A huge demand on the Russian market has risen, where famous Swiss watchmakers had been acting for many years. In those days, they had productions in Le Locle, just like Henry Moser (H.Moser & CO) or Paul Buhre (Pavel Bure). Probably it was them, who offered customers first oversize watch, model type in the form of curved tonneau, which perfectly conforms to a wrist. It was a real success, as orders were so numerous that the factories decided to use the mechanisms of women's' watches of small size and install in a new design. This was a disadvantage, as the watch required an adjustment pressing on the side button lace to switch hour, just like in the pocket watches from the previous period. Shields were done very carefully with silver, digits were engraved and filled with fired Smalt (today we would say indelebile), and they were signed with the name of a watchmaker, but the mechanisms and envelopes in addition to timbrow were basically not described. The demand was so huge that other Swiss companies, such as Longines and Omega, among others, offered its products in Russia. They often had very modern solutions, and they used mechanisms for wristwatches that did not require inconvenient time adjustment through side button, but like modern watches by pulling the head. Some were added in the second hand at the height of 6, mechanisms and shields were signed by the manufacturer, stamped housing. These "modern" solutions are of course much less common on the collector market, because after the October Revolution in Russia, they ceased production of this model. Atelier Tempus is happy that it can offer you Omega with solutions that are already modern, in excellent condition, and after the intervention of a conservative watchmaker.
