Description

This large and important Minerva pilot's chronograph is almost certainly the most striking watch in our window... Dating back to the early 1940's, this 46mm pilots watch has arrived in remarkably crisp condition with razor sharp lugs, immaculate 'onion' crown, 'olive' pusher and absolutely perfect bi-directional ribbed bezel. We've never even seen a picture of one in such fine, original condition, the dial has remained a deep black whilst the lume applied to the hands and numerals is still completely intact and has aged gracefully to a rich golden colour. The telemetre bezel is as legible as the day that it left the Villeret workshops whilst the inner spiral tachymetre is calibrated all the way from 500 to 20 units per hour. Fittingly for such a precision instrument, the Minerva calibre 17''' manual wind chronograph movement is superbly finished with crisp chamfering and sharp internal corners visible on the magnificent Y-shaped bridge. We are genuinely proud to present this slice of aviation history in our window...
