This vintage manual winding Minerva VD 712 chronograph is in good condition, has perfect mechanical functionality and is covered by our limited warranty for 12 months. As a vintage watch, we cannot guarantee its current water resistance.
Interestingly, while this piece is a civilian model, VD 712s were used by the Swedish Navy during the late 1950s and 60s. While records are thin, there has been indication that each ship or submarine used by the Swedish Marine during this period had a few of these Minerva chronographs to use for various calculations, and is certainly a testament to the quality and reliability of these watches.
Powered by the famous and reliable Valjoux 72 movement, this Minerva shares the same movement used by other watches in the same era such as the Rolex Daytona and Heuer Autavia. It is a column wheel chronograph and the bridge is marked with the Minerva brand.
The chrome plated 37 mm case has a stainless steel back and is in overall good condition with the exception of one notable scratch on the top right lug. From lug to lug the watch measures at 44.5mm and has an overall thickness of 14mm. It has round pump pushers and a domed fluted crown. The caseback is original with all of the correct markings of a Minerva VD712. The case has a stepped, polished bezel and the bevelled long slender lugs sits well on the wrist.
The three-register white dial has been professionally restored with running seconds at nine o’clock, a minute counter at three o’clock and an hour counter at six o’clock. This Minerva has its original heated blue steel pencil hands and is filled with luminescent material.
Our preowned watches have all undergone thorough mechanical inspections, including being ultrasonically cleaned, polished, resealed if appropriate and tested for at least four days, to ensure they meet our highest timekeeping standards.
All watches are either covered by a full, or a limited twelve month warranty. For example, due to their age, some vintage watches should not be subjected to the same conditions as when they were new. Please see our Terms & Conditions for further information.
