It’s always nice to discuss which watch you may purchase next or which watches you might buy within a certain budget. In previous Top 10 articles, we’ve discussed the best options within various budgets and watch categories. In this article, we have compiled a list of watches available for under 10,000 euros.

This budget gives you the freedom to buy very serious watches from almost all of the well-known luxury brands. The following list includes both brand new and pre-owned timepieces. Who knows, you might just find something that is more exclusive than you ever thought possible.

Rolex Daytona

The Rolex Daytona is one of the most iconic watches of the last decades. Originally introduced in 1955 and made famous by actor, racecar driver, and fashion icon Paul Newman in the 1960s, the watch has grown to be a must-have for a large number of collectors. The secret to its success is a mixture of elements: the allure of the Rolex brand, the practicality of the chronograph watch, and the iconic design that makes it wearable for multiple occasions.

In 2016, Rolex boosted interest in the Daytona by introducing a revamped version with a black ceramic bezel, thus bringing back the look of the classic 1965 Daytona. The new edition has generated an increase in sales and prices. Therefore, finding a Rolex Daytona for less than 10,000 euros can be a bit of a challenge, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Rolex GMT Master II

The Rolex GMT Master II is the latest rendition of a proven classic that not only is a statement in style, but also makes a good investment over time. The current GMT Master in steel is available with an all-black bezel or the black and blue bezel that is also known as the Batman version.

If you prefer the classic red and blue color configuration – also known as the Pepsi bezel – you would have to save up quite a bit more money as this configuration only comes new in white gold. However, you could challenge yourself and look for a vintage GMT Master with the Pepsi bezel for less than 10,000 euros; who knows what you’ll find.

Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon

Another watch that certainly belongs on this list is the Omega Speedmaster. The Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon salutes the NASA astronauts who were members of the Apollo 8 mission and were the first people to see the dark side of the Moon with their own eyes. The watch is made from a single block of black brushed and polished ceramic and complemented by a black ceramic dial and polished black ceramic control pushers.

The ceramic material gives the well-known Speedmaster a unique and modern style that has been widely praised. It is taking the classic Speedmaster in a new, modern direction.

IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot’s Watch

IWC has a rich tradition of developing pilot’s watches, or in German Fliegeruhren as many people have come to know them over time. The design of all IWC Fliegeruhren emulates the character of a functional tool watch. The IWC Big Pilot is a strong example of this; if you look at the dial, it almost seems like you have an instrument on your wrist. The result is a big watch with a very smooth and clean design, allowing you to read the time in a heartbeat. The Big Pilot has become one of the biggest icons of IWC and represents their highly-technical heritage.

IWC Schaffhausen Portugieser Automatic

The IWC Portugieser was developed in the late 1930s in response to the search for a large stainless steel wristwatch powered by a movement that could match the precision of a marine chronometer. It was out of production for some time, but then the Swiss watchmaker celebrated their 125th anniversary in 1993 with the reintroduction of the IWC Portugieser. In 2000, after four years of development, IWC unveiled the Portugieser Automatic with a new in-house movement featuring a remarkable seven-day power reserve.

The watch is widely respected for its IWC 5000 movement and clean timeless design. If you are looking for a new Portugieser Automatic, you’ll have to spend close to 10,000 euros or more, but search for pre-owned models and you’ll find several configurations of this icon available for lower prices.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon

Jaeger-LeCoultre is synonymous with style, class, and the refined craftsmanship of luxury watches. The Ultra Thin Moon is part of the Master series that features a wide selection of watches with the same round case shape and simple, but highly elegant dial set-up. The watch is very easy to wear with its 39-mm case size and 9.9-mm thickness. The dial features a beautiful moon-phase/date display at six o’clock that is not only a nice complication, but also integrates perfectly. The Master Ultra Thin Moon makes a very classy statement and is the perfect addition for people looking for a watch suitable for both formal and informal occasions.

Glashütte Original Senator Observer

If you want to go a less paved way for 10,000 euros, you might want to consider Glasshütte Original. The German brand is known for creating incredibly high-quality watches that are developed and assembled in-house. The Senator Observer is Glashütte’s modern-day version of a classic deck watch. The watch has a 44-mm case and the dial features a power reserve indicator at three ‘o clock and the iconic panoramic date indicator at six ‘o clock, which the brand has become known for.

Another great feature of the watch is the high level of finish on the movement which is visible through the glass case back. All the elements of the Senator Observer ooze class and craftsmanship; something you can expect when spending a significant amount of money.

Breguet Marine Big Date

Breguet is a brand for people that care about the heritage and historic achievements of a watchmaker. The brand is recognized as one of the oldest watch brands around (established in 1775) and is famous for the invention of the tourbillon by founder Abraham Louis Breguet. The Marine Big Date carries the rich tradition of a Breguet watch with its classic and elegant design and overall incredible finish. The watch is available with an incredible handmade guilloché dial that comes in black or silver.

Other remarkable features are the rubber strap, which is surprising on such a classic watch, and the big date display at six ‘o clock. You will have to search a bit for your piece of Breguet watch history, as the list price of the Marine Big Date is way over 10,000 euros. However, a pre-owned example can certainly be had for less than 10,000 euros.

Frédérique Constant Slimline Perpetual Calendar

Buying a serious watch with complications from a renowned brand seems out of scope for 10,000 euros. Recently, however, several brands have introduced watches with complications at relatively affordable prices. Frédérique Constant is one of the leading brands in this movement. They are truly living their motto of “affordable luxury.” The Slimline Perpetual Calendar is a grand-complication watch priced well under 10,000 euros.

The watch is powered by the in-house FC-755 caliber and measures 42mm in diameter. It has a thickness of 10.2mm, which is not as thin as some of its competitors, but makes the watch very easy to wear. Most perpetual calendars would set you back serious sums of money compared to this watch, making the Frédérique Constant Slimeline Perpetual an appealing option.

Patek Philippe Calatrava

For many people, a Patek Philippe is the Holy Grail of watches. In order to find your Holy Grail for around 10,000 euros, however, you’ll have to take some time and dive into the world of vintage Patek Philippe Calatravas. Many of these classic dress watches are quite small and few men like to wear 32-mm or 33-mm timepieces today. But with some patience, you can find beautiful pieces that are big enough to be worn with a jacket and a nice shirt for those special occasions. One interesting example is the reference 3445 with a small seconds and date display.
