Description

Collector Condition 1950’s Oversize Solid 18ct Rose Gold Jaeger le Coultre Memovox Gents Vintage Watch

The Overview
Founded in 1833, Jaeger Le Coultre have long been acknowledged as one of the premier watchmakers in terms of their extremely high quality movements, their effortlessly elegant design and innovation. They made the iconic Reverso in the 1930’s and followed this up with the wrist alarm Powermatic and the Memovox… The Memovox, especially the oversize version (34 mm’s excluding the 2 period crowns), is one of if not the most desireable Jaegers on the market.
This oversize Memovox case is in stunning condition with only the most minor signs of wear – it has 2 period crowns – one for winding/time setting and one to wind/set the alarm. The original 2 part steel (matt) outer dial and steel pearlescent inner dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is just magnificent. The applied rose gold spearhead hour batons along with the original rose gold hands (blued steel second hand) provide the softest contrast to the steel and blend perfectly with the gleaming rose gold case. The solid 18ct rose gold case is in exceptional condition and very rarely it’s the screw back style. Jaeger movements are amongst the highest quality in the world and this Jaeger signed manual wind is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. To complete this delicious piece we’ve added a new, high quality, dark brown crocodile skin strap with a gold plated (yellow) buckle.
My asking price is below the value for a watch of this condition and rarity, particularly with the continual rise in value of vintage watches of this high quality. In view of the high grade Swiss movement, I will include a three month written guarantee on the movement, which is long enough for you to assess the working order.

The Case
The crisp, provenance polished solid 18ct rose gold screw back case is in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. The ‘Calatrava’ style lugs and perfectly proportioned case frame the dial beautifully. The case measures just over 34 mm’s wide (the standard size for these in the 1950’s was 30 – 33 mm’s and the oversize case is super rare), excluding the period crowns and 42 mm’s, including the lugs. The outside caseback carries the case reference of ‘674264 A’ and the inside case carries the Jaeger fir trees (with ‘LC’ either side) and has the appropriate hallmarks for solid 18ct gold.

The Dial
The original 2 part steel (matt) outer dial and steel pearlescent inner dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standards and is just magnificent. The applied rose gold spearhead hour batons along with the original rose gold hands (blued steel second hand) provide the softest contrast to the steel and blend perfectly with the gleaming rose gold case. The dial is signed ‘Jaeger le Coultre’ and ‘Swiss Made’.

The Movement
Jaeger movements are amongst the highest quality in the world and this Jaeger signed manual wind is in excellent condition and has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker. The Movement is signed ‘Jaeger le Coultre’, ‘Fab Suisse Swiss’ and the movement number is ‘1083090’.

The Strap
To complete this delicious piece we’ve added a new, high quality, dark brown crocodile skin strap with a gold plated (yellow) buckle.
