Description
When IWC re- released the big pilot watch with automatic movement and 7 day power reserve back in the early 2000's incorporating a caliber 5000 movement beating at 18000 VPH accuracy wasn't it's strong point.They went back and developed the more efficient caliber movement in 2005 which beat at 21600 VPH ensuring much greater accuracy. This was known as the 5004 rather than the 5002 reference, what is less well known is that for around 12 months IWC produced a "Transitional" model still retaining the 5002 original dial and white calendar display but on the new 5004 movement. It is believed that as production was for such a short period it is a true limited edition and low hundreds rather than thousand's were made possibly until the original dials were used up? Easily recognized by its'' Probus'' rather than '' Fish'' winder this is considered to be the best version of the Big Pilot and still a fantastic investment for the future.
