Description

On offer we have this very special Zenith El Primero Rainbow Flyback Chronograph in 40mm, with black dial. This is a very rare and sought after watch from the “old school” Zeniths, and quite possibly one of the best examples you’ll ever come across!

As Zenith fans will know, this watch has a great history attached to it as well as being a particularly desirable model due the El Primero “Flyback” Chronograph movement (a truly “in-house” movement that beats at 36,600bps). The black model is also rarer than it’s coloured counterpart. Both were only made during a short period and in quantities of around 4000 units (a lot less than some of the “Limited Editions” offered today).

This particular watch is of the very last ones to be made, making it highly desirable due to the later 405Z movement and Super-Luminova coated hands/numerals (vs. the earlier Tritium types that no longer emit light). The watch case, movement and document serial numbers all match too!

And it gets better… this watch comes with it’s FULL SET of original accessories, including inner and outer Zenith boxes, box foam lining, full set of international instruction manuals, Guarantee booklet, Guarantee card (fully coded and stamped/dated 25/03/2005), document holder, Zenith hang tag, and all spare bracelet links (not shown), allowing the watch to fit up to an 8.5” wrist.

The watch retains all is original parts, including bezel insert, crystal, dial and hands. The Anti-reflective coating on the crystal does exhibit the typical “hairline swirl marks” of AR coatings of this era (only visible at certain angles). These are not scratches to the crystal and can easily be buffed out - but this is not recommendable on an all original and collectable watch.

The watch has just been professionally valeted, polished and lightly refinished to bring it back to as fresh and new condition as possible. It’s in stunning condition and only shows a few minor blemishes here and there.

The watch is of course 100% genuine all round and runs perfectly in every way (auto/manual winding, auto/manual date change, power reserve, time setting, accuracy, chronograph etc.)

This watch represents an absolute bargain when compared to an equivalent Rolex Daytona that in fact “borrowed” this watches’ movement for many years… AND after having removed its instant date change feature and de-tuning it to a less appealing 28,800bps!

So, in summary, here you have a very rare and desirable iconic Zenith timepiece, with a truly in house movement and Flyback Feature (unique to this watch).

The movement is in beautiful, unmolested, original condition. As I’m sure you’ll now appreciate, this is a real treasure to any Zenith fan or collector!

Being a highly collectable timepiece its value is constantly rising, so it’s sure to make a solid long term and enjoyable investment too.

Size guide for wristbands

1 | Lug width

The lug width is the width of the strap at the end that is attached to the watch. This is the interior distance between the two lugs (horn-like protrusions) on the watch casing. The strap will fit your watch only if the lug width of the watch is the same width as the strap.

2 | Buckle width

The buckle width is the width of the strap at the buckle end. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the width of the original buckle must be identical to the strap width. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.

3 | Strap length

The strap length is the combined length of the short strap side 3A (without buckle) and the long strap side 3B. For metal straps, the length of the strap including the clasp is measured in the closed position.

4 | Strap thickness

Strap thickness is the height of the strap. Many leather straps thin out towards the buckle end, or “taper”. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the strap thickness must match the height of the original buckle. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.
