An excellently preserved TUDOR extra-ordinary case reference 7967; with bi-metal steel case body and yellow gold bezel; enhances the appearance of this lovely gentleman's period bi-metal TUDOR wrist watch, this is a super fine mechanism, the tolerances on the hour wheel/and hands height is so slim that one gets the impression of luxury watchmaking in it's finest hour. This calibre is a robust ETA 2461 and has a very classic balance wheel, regulated and maintained almost like a chronometer, it returns a timing error of about +/- 10-12 seconds per day. The calibre is a work horse movement for TUDOR and was prevalent in almost all the beautifully made TUDOR watches like the Submariners, Gent's dress watches, and other luxury creations by the TUDOR watch co.
The serial # 300,357 has been authenticated by us here at PTC as the perfect production date of the Tudor watch co. this case back points to the II.59 or the second quarter of 1959 as it's production date out of the factory. We have had a authentic ROLEX/TUDOR Tropic crystal #15 installed into this watch, bear in mind the tolerances on the height are very slim indeed, and that the glass is a factory fit, this is extremely important, and all our watches have ONLY authentic company parts. This is the premise of PTC to be as genuine and as perfect as possible, we leave no stone unturned in the quest of originality.
The movement is a decorated and TUDOR signed regulated to perfection ETA calibre 2461. You should be able to get a 40 hours power reserve in this wrist watch. All the parts, the movement, the crown, and the crowns tube are serviced- all seals changed to maintain it's water resistance attributes [We do not give a water resistance guarantee on plexi-glass wrist watches due in part to the intricacies involved in watchmaking] Please read my water resistance guide-lines on this subject.
The gilt hands and gilt indexes are all alright and keeping with the age of the item, the black honey comb dial has had significant fading and I've maintained the luminous compound in the dial by having it redone, it is still my best effort, so it could be a little shoddy. Bear in mind my perfectionist state would not have allowed it to happen this way, but relying on replacements for a dial this old is simply out of the question, so hence the work on the cleaning entailed the dial work. [PTC guarantee on the item is 2 years]
