Touchon made time pieces for Tiffany & co. between 1908-1921 only, this hyper rare split seconds chronograph pocket watch was made in 1912. The information was provided by it's previous owner who had a hand written slip to prove this was indeed from this year.
The base calibre is made by Audemars Piguet for Touchon in Geneva. The serial number # 9601 of the watch, is double signed, both on the case, and on the movement mainplate. From the information about the serial number, we can discern that the movement was exclusively fabricated by TOUCHON for Tiffany & co. NYC as their higher end gentleman's pocket watch. The split seconds feature in this pocket watch is one of superb craftmanship, and was hand made by TOUCHON to suit the base calibre, by Audemars Piguet. The jewels count in the movement is not visible and this field has not been entered. The movement is working, and showing the proper time, the chronograph parts are working as they should, and the split seconds feature is also working appropriately. Please note that it is a dirty movement, and has not been serviced for a number of years, hence it will need extensive cleaning by a master watchmaker or at the very least, by someone who can handle work of this calibre. I have preferred not to service this item, and will leave it to the buyer to organise their way around this tricky issue. The movement has several areas of tarnishing, nothing major, slight rustiness here and there, this can be easily cleaned up during the servicing process. The case is signed 'Tiffany &co.' it is solid 18k with all the appropriate hallmarks, the case number # 9601 is also visible clearly on the inside, the outer case parts have an engraved initials in large motif. The 18k yellow gold case is an open faced hunter case, and both the inside cover and the outside cover are 18k yellow gold.
