The lineage of Rolex sports model is very old and holds a special position in the market of collector’s choice. Rolex Sea Dweller is one of the Rolex Vintage watches which have survived its legacy of the bygone era.
Exclusively designed to resist the diving pressures, the Rolex Sea Dweller was launched in the 1960s for the deep sea divers. The decompression technology needed to be developed for the divers who delved deeper and deeper into the waters. Rolex collaborated with one of the leading sea diving companies, Comex which resulted in the evolution of some of the legendary series of the Sea Dweller’s models.
The idea of design was quite close to Submariner but the Rolex Sea Dweller was laced with highly advanced decompression technology for the deep sea divers. Some modifications were done in the design like thick crystal and also equipped a Helium Escape Valve to let the pressure go out. Similar to the Submariner, it also had an oyster link bracelet.
Ideally designed for the deep sea divers, the Sea Dweller has always been the perfect choice for the professional diving purposes. The watch comes with a remarkable water resistance capacity of 4000 ft in deep water with a thick sapphire crystal glass shielding the case from external pressures. The case of the wristlet has been equipped with HEV (Helium Escapement Valve) enabling to resist deep water pressures.
Accommodating the HEV in the case, the thickness of the case has been enhanced by 4mm compared to the Submariner. With the increased case size, the Sea Dweller projects a massive appearance on the writs. Like the Rolex other diving selections including Submariner, the Sea Dweller also comes with a diving suit extension link associated with the oyster link bracelet making it easily fit on the diving suit.
Ensuring the water resistance capacity of the case, the Sea Dweller is furnished with a “Triplock Crown” feature. Beside the Triplock crown, the watch also comes with a rubber gasket ensuring the safety of the case from deep water pressures. Following elegance in design, the wristlet has been adored in a simplistic fashion in line with designing of the sports watches.
The Sea Dweller is the first diving watch in the Rolex lineage to be embellished with a stainless steel oyster bracelet with solid links enhancing the visual appeal to the eyes. The watch houses a calibre 3135 self winding automatic movement making it a perfect timepiece to be adorned for diving activities.
