Reference 5100 is significant in the development of Patek Philippe complicated watches. It is the first 10-day wristwatch ever made by the company. This reference was inspired by the classic Patek Philippe reference 2554 from the year 1952. The reverse of the watch is engraved 'Year 2000', a reference to its introduction as a commemorative piece to celebrate the beginning of the third millennium.
It was created in 1,500 examples in yellow gold, 750 examples in pink gold, 450 examples in white gold and 300 examples in platinum.
